Certification of Stroke Centers and Stroke Units
SFCNS coordinates the implementation of the stroke related decisions of the Swiss Conference of the Cantonal Ministers of Public Health i.e. the Schweizerische Gesundheitsdirektorenkonferenz GDK and its Decision Board HSM and its Scientific Committee HSM on Highly Specialized Medical Services.
According to the GDK Decision, stroke care in Switzerland will be reorganised into professional networks established by 8 dedicated stroke centers and 12 stroke units. These stroke centers and stroke units will have to be certified.

The SFCNS received the mandate to
coordinate these certification processes in Switzerland.
Timeline
The GDK will inform all clinical centres in detail on the next steps early 2012.
The certification guidelines have recently been elaborated by the Swiss Stroke Society, guidelines available, certification processes can start from autumn 2012,

Swiss Stroke Commission
The Swiss Stroke Commission integrates delegates from the various clinical neuro societies, intensive care and general internal medicine and represents all disciplines that have to be integrated in comprehensive stroke centers and in stroke units.
